Myrrh Gum – Organic Resin Tear Beads
Commiphora molmol
Myrrh is not a plant itself but a natural resin product derived from trees of the Commiphora genus (family Burseraceae). When the bark of Commiphora molmol or related species is incised, a pale yellow gummy resin exudes and hardens on exposure to air, forming the distinctive amber-to-reddish-brown tear-shaped pieces known as myrrh gum. These solidified resin tears have a characteristically aromatic, balsamic, and slightly bitter character.
Myrrh has been used for thousands of years across Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Middle Eastern traditions primarily as an aromatic botanical in incense and perfumery.
