Muira Puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides) is a small tree or woody shrub native to the Amazon rainforest regions of Brazil and other parts of South America. It belongs to the Olacaceae family and is traditionally used in Brazilian herbal practice. The root and bark are the most commonly used parts of the plant.
The plant grows up to approximately 14 feet tall and produces small white flowers with a light, jasmine-like fragrance. The root is fibrous with thin bark and a light brown interior.
